This limited edition book tells the story of the Ferryboat Vallejo, moored in Sausalito, California, that was home, studio, and Bay Area cultural hive of artists and thinkers in 1949-1969. Gordon Onslow Ford and Jean Varda were the original artists on the Vallejo, poet and philosopher Alan Watts later lived and worked there. This publication was done in conjunction with the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art's exhibition about the Vallejo held April 28-June 10, 2018. The exhibition was made possible through the curatorial's discovery of the little known David Cole gallery that resided on the boat between 1958-1959. Laura Whitcomb's chapter documents the gallery for the first time.
